EFOH's approach
Educational model
EFOH’s didactical approach is based on modern adult learning theories that have proven to be effective.
These include the following principles:
- exchange of experiences by participants from all over Europe
- learner-centered methods instead of teacher-centered methods
- application of a variety of learning methods, taking into account that professionals have different (combinations of) learning styles
- application of the results of scientific research: evidence-based teaching
- application of web-based learning methods
- a pleasant and stimulating atmosphere.
Themes
The themes for the CPD programmes are suggested by EFOH’s scientific committee. Themes should be attractive for professionals all over Europe. The first courses are specifically aimed at occupational physicians:
New insights in occupational diseases: definition, diagnosis and prevention
Infectious diseases and the workplace
The Scientific Committee will also advice the organisers about whom to invite as lecturers and tutors.

International character
In one course there are participants from all over Europe. The working language is English.
Combining learning and pleasure
Apart from learning, there will be time to discuss with each other informally the occupational health situation in different countries. There is also time for leisure or tourist activities.
Location
Participants spend a couple of days in an interesting city in Europe with an outstanding conference centre.
Accreditation
Requests for accreditation are sent to the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) of the UEMS.
EACCME will assign credits to educational activities. As the different National Accreditation Authorities apply different credit systems, the European CME Credits ("ECMEC") have been introduced in order to harmonise the credit system on the following basis:
- 1 ECMEC per hour;
- 3 ECMEC for half-day; and
- 6 ECMEC for a full-day event.
National accreditation authorities can then convert these credits into national units, following their own national rules.
The time schedule presented, can provide the participants with 15 credit points (ECMEC), i.e. almost all credit points needed in some countries for one year!
Pricing
We will offer a reasonably priced package, through an efficient organization outside the high season time.
